A rare piece of hip-hop history is now on the market, as the original contract between Jay-Z and Eminem for their iconic track "Renegade" is up for sale. Collectibles company Moments In Time has obtained the production agreement, featuring both artistes' signatures, and is offering it for $35,000, according to TMZ.

The contract dates back to 2001 when Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records collaborated with Eminem's Angry Blonde Productions to create the track.

Interestingly, the paperwork was finalised just 10 days before "Renegade" was officially released. Adding to its uniqueness, the document bears the real names of the artistes—Shawn Carter and Marshall Mathers—making it a prized item for collectors.

"Renegade" was the sole guest feature on Jay-Z's album "The Blueprint", released on September 11, 2001. The critically acclaimed project went on to earn flawless ratings from The Source, XXL, and Vibe.

The track not only bolstered Eminem's street credibility but also solidified Jay-Z's status in the rap game, even playing a pivotal role in Nas' infamous Ether diss aimed at Jay-Z.

Following the album's debut, Jay-Z and Eminem delivered a memorable rooftop performance of "Renegade" on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Now, hip-hop enthusiasts and collectors have the rare opportunity to own a tangible piece of that era.

The 14-page contract, which sealed the collaboration between the two rap legends, is currently listed on the Moments In Time website under the description, "Unique contract signed by Eminem and Jay Z."

Before becoming a standout collaboration between Jay-Z and Eminem, "Renegade" was originally recorded by Eminem and Royce da 5'9" as part of their duo, Bad Meets Evil.

The track was initially set to be part of Royce's debut album, "Rock City", but a contractual restriction from Interscope Records allowed him to feature Eminem on only one song. Opting for the album's title track instead, "Renegade" was left unreleased.

When Jay-Z approached Eminem for a feature on The Blueprint, Eminem initially intended to provide a different instrumental.

However, without access to the recording reel, he had to make a quick decision. As a result, he offered "Renegade" instead.

After securing Royce's approval, Jay-Z replaced Royce's verses with his own, while Eminem handled the final mix, giving the song its now-legendary form.
