Hridoy Khan’s long-delayed short film ‘Trapped’ arrives this December
Six years after making his short film "Trapped", singer-composer Hridoy Khan is finally ready to release it. The project, shot in New York and completed years ago, remained shelved for reasons he never publicly disclosed.
Hridoy first teased "Trapped" back in 2020 with the song "Ochena", written, composed, performed, and arranged by him. The film resurfaced this June again with another track, "Shada Kalo", where he appeared wandering alone through New York streets. But until now, the film itself has never seen daylight.
That changes this December. Hridoy dropped the official trailer yesterday, confirming that "Trapped" will be released this month—though he has not yet announced the exact date.
The 25-minute short follows a young man named Hridoy who unknowingly walks into a trap and becomes entangled in the drug trade. Forced to work for traffickers, he drifts through a bleak routine until one evening he meets a young woman named Mona. With her, he begins imagining a way out—a life unchained from fear and compromise. But when Mona is murdered before his eyes, Hridoy snaps into a new plan. The film asks whether he can outrun his past or if he is destined to fall into yet another trap.
"Trapped" was filmed entirely in New York, with Hridoy Khan both directing and playing the central role. He stars opposite Monalisa, joined by several local performers from the city's Bangladeshi community.
Though this is his first time acting in a short film, Hridoy is no stranger to being on camera. He has appeared in many of his own music videos, worked in commercials, and even acted in a TV drama.
Speaking about directing the short, Hridoy said, "Since childhood, I've had a soft spot for videography. Even before my music career took off, I used to shoot videos. I never did professional videography, but I've edited videos and done colour grading on and off. Acting and directing at the same time, though—that's genuinely tough."
