After eight years with "Warfaze", Balam left the band in 2007 to focus on his solo career. This year, the iconic band marked its 40th anniversary with a world tour that brought them to Canada — where fans were treated to a surprise reunion with their former vocalist and guitarist.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, "Warfaze" frontman Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu earlier announced that, alongside concerts across Bangladesh, the band planned shows in the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, and India. He had also hinted at the possibility of former members joining. True to that plan, Warfaze performed in Toronto on September 26, where Balam returned to the stage with his old bandmates.

Sharing photos from the concert on social media, Balam wrote, "I feel honoured and delighted to be part of "Warfaze's" 40th anniversary concert in Toronto. My greetings to the audience, and special thanks to those who made this event possible."

Reflecting on the experience, he added, "I have performed solo in Canada many times before, but this event was very special because I got to participate with Warfaze. I was with the band for many years, and after such a long time, performing with them again on the same stage was an incredible feeling."

Balam first joined "Warfaze" in 1999, spending eight years with the group. His voice was featured on three tracks in the 2000 album "Alo" — "Joto Durey", "Shomoy", and "Nei Tumi". In 2003, he sang the entire "Moharaj" album, with songs such as "Moharaj", "Hariye Tomake", "Cyclone", and "Boshonto" giving him widespread recognition.

Even before formally joining, Balam's ties with the band ran deep. He is a relative of founding member Babna Karim and would attend rehearsals as a child. Babna also performed at the Toronto concert, later saying, "Events are often held in Toronto, and I join whenever possible. But this one was special — celebrating 40 years of Warfaze and sharing the same stage again was truly joyous."
