Zafrullah Chowdhury feeling better now
Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, who tested positive for Covid-19 on May 24, is now feeling better.
"He is feeling better now than before and is having food on his own, thanks to the Almighty," Prof Brig Gen (Retd) Mamun Mostafi said in a statement today.
Dr Zafrullah's overall condition is stable and did not deteriorate, although oxygen is being administered to him, he said.
Dr Mamun Mostafi said a medical board comprising doctors from home and abroad discussed Dr Zafrullah's health condition online.
After being infected with Covid-19, he has been under treatment at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital. He has undergone plasma therapy thrice.
The 79-year old physician is a kidney patient and has been undergoing dialysis and also has a preexisting lung problem.
For nearly the last three months, Dr Zafrullah and a team of scientists have been working on the Gonoshasthaya Kendra-developed rapid coronavirus test kit -- GR Rapid Dot Blot – and to get it approved. He has been calling for emergency authorisation of the kit for large-scale test and isolation of the new coronavirus patients -- the best way to check its spread.
