Recently, The Booker Prize interviewed the award-winning singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, who delivered the keynote speech at the 2022 ceremony, on her thoughts about the much celebrated literary accolade as well her own reading habits. In this brief reel, shared on The Prize's Instagram page, here's what the star had to say.

On the importance of The Booker Prize, the singer says that "the authors [listed under the award] don't really know how much of a role they play in our everyday lives, and how they change our lives". She added that "Tonight (the ceremony) is an extraordinary and incredible evening to celebrate their craft…and to show them how much they mean to us".

When being asked how she finds the time to read, she shared that she reads backstage or in the backseat of her car, on her way to meetings or interviews, "especially if I'm into a book", she said. She also added that she reads anywhere she can "catch a couple of pages", doesn't matter the time or where she is, or what she's doing.

The singer also divulged that she recently got a copy of Young Mungo (2022), the second and latest novel by the 2020 Booker Prize winning author Douglas Stuart. She is "a really big fan" of the author, she said, and being aware that he, too, is the winner of the Booker Prize, she was excited to dive into the book.

She also included To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee in her to-be-read list, sharing that she hasn't read too many classics.

Great books are what has gotten Dua Lipa through her Future Nostalgia world tour, she revealed in her keynote speech at the 2022 Booker Prize ceremony on October 18. "Good writing has the power to make people feel seen and heard, to tell stories that the world has ignored", she noted.
