After six years of development, filmmaker Nuhash Humayun has begun shooting his debut feature film “Moving Bangladesh” yesterday (April 8). The production, backed by Goopi Bagha, started filming following an eight-day countdown campaign.

The shoot will take place across 20 locations in Dhaka and is expected to continue until mid-May, after which post-production will begin.

The film centres on the struggles of a bike rider. Speaking to Prothom Alo, Nuhash said the cast has not yet been officially announced. “We want to reveal the cast properly at the right time. However, I can say that the lead is not a star, but a new face. We spent a long time searching and auditioning to find someone who fits the character,” he said.

Nuhash began his career with short films before moving into web series, earning recognition both locally and internationally. He noted that he deliberately took his time with his first feature.

“I’ve spent five to six years developing this project to make the film on my own terms. Time went into the script, budget, and story development. I didn’t want to rush it. I worked at my own pace with the support of the entire team, and now I want to bring that vision to the screen,” he said.

The film involves several international production partners and has received funding from multiple global platforms. In 2021, it secured $89,800 from the Taipei Film Commission in Taiwan. It later received Tk 25 lakh from Syncraft Film Fund.

The project has also received support from Tokyo’s grant financing market, the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, and India’s Film Bazaar.
