Two held in connection with gang-rape of a 17-year-old in Lalmonirhat
Two people were held in connection with the gang-rape of a teenager in Lalmonirhat's Sadar upazila this afternoon.
The victim was rescued and sent to the police station this noon, said Lalmonirhat Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Shaha Alam.
The detainees are Atiqul Islam Atiq and Nirmal Chandra of Kurigram's Rajarhat upazila.
The girl was gang-raped in a house near the toll plaza of Teesta Road Bridge. On receiving information from locals, police raided the house on Thursday noon and rescued the girl and arrested the two alleged rapists.
However, the owner of the house fled the scene after learning of the raid.
The family members of the victim have been alerted and the filing of a case is underway.
