Man stabbed to death in Jashore

A man was stabbed to death by miscreants in Jashore’s Sharsha upazila on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Al-Amin, 35, of Baripota village under Nabharan union.

The incident took place around 10:30pm in Baripota village.

According to police and local residents, Al-Amin was on his way home after Taraweeh prayers when a group of miscreants attacked him. The attackers stabbed him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured, and fled the scene.

Locals rescued him in a bloodied condition and rushed him to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station, Maruf Hasan said he is currently on leave, and the inspector (investigation) is looking into the matter.

Inspector (Investigation) Shah Alam of the same police station said police have already started working to identify the motive behind the murder and those involved.

“The body has been sent to Jashore General Hospital for an autopsy,” he added.
