2 including pvt university teacher drown in Sangu River

Two people including a teacher of United International University today died after drowning in Sangu River of Ruma upazila in Bandarban.

The deceased were identified as Santanu Sarkar, 28, a teacher of Computer Science at UIU and, Junayed Ehsan, 25, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Mamun, a student of BUET who was also travelling with them.

They came to Bandarban on March 22 and went to Keokradong. They returned to Ruma upazila today and were bathing in the Sangu River when the incident occurred around 2:00pm.

Md Shamsur Alam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Ruma upazila, confirmed the incident to The Daily Star.
