2 CU students suspended
Chittagong University (CU) authorities have suspended two students, including an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, for their alleged involvement in the university’s admission test forgery.
The students are: Istiyak Ahmed Saurov, a final year student of Marketing department, and Nazmul Kabir, second year student of English department.
Saurov, assistant secretary of CU BCL committee, was arrested at a flat along with an admission seeker in Badurtala area of the city yesterday a day before the “D” unit admission test was held, said Mobassher Hossen, assistant commissioner (AC) (Panchlaish zone) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Police seized three electronic devices, two Bluetooth earphones, two revenue stamps worth of Tk 100, and four eraser pens from his possession, said the AC.
Saurav was arrested based on the information provided by Kabir, who was arrested from the city’s Bayezid area on Wednesday, the police official said.
AC Mobassher told The Daily Star that the duo was among the five members of a gang who used to counterfeit the admission seekers of Dhaka University (DU) and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University.
“The gang has different sub-groups and it used to collect aspirants from different coaching centers,” said the AC.
Police were trying to arrest the other members and find out the sources of the electronic devices.
