Train services in Natore resumes after 8hrs
Train services between Dhaka and Dinajpur resumed after eight hours of a train derailment this morning in Lalpur upazila of Natore.
A four-member truth committee headed by Shawkat Jamil of divisional transport officers has been formed to investigate the incident, out Natore correspondent reports quoting Divisional Railway Manager Afzal Hussain.
The committee was given three days to find out the exact cause of the derailment, Hussain said.
The rail links at all five tracks were restored in the district as a rescue operation finished at 3:30pm, he said.
Three bogies and the engine of the Dinajpur-bound train from Dhaka veered off the tracks near Abdulpur junction around 8:30am, Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Railway Police Station in Pabna, told the correspondent.
The loco master might have driven the train on wrong line due to dense fog, the OC said.
It was most likely the train driver’s fault, DRM Hussain said.
But the driver was quick to deny his fault blaming the station manager instead, the correspondent said.
