Dhaka-N’ganj rail, bus services resume

Road and rail communications between Dhaka and Narayanganj resumed three hours after a Narayanganj-bound train stopped moving at Chashara rail crossing due to engine failure today.

The services resumed after an alternative engine was connected with the train around 4:00pm after which the train resumed its journey, Golam Mostafa, station master of Narayanganj Railway Station, told our local correspondent.

Road communication came to a halt on Dhaka-Pagla-Narayanganj route as a local train stopped moving on a rail crossing at Chashara around 1:00pm due to its engine failure.

Earlier in the day, Amena Akter, station master of Chashara Railway Station, said, “The train had left from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station at 12:20pm and was on its way to Narayanganj station after leaving Chashara station at 1:07pm when its engine failed and it stopped moving at the rail crossing.”

“The train was supposed to leave for Dhaka from Narayanganj at 2:40pm,” she said.
