Stolen infant’s body recovered in Bagerhat
Law enforcers recovered the body of a two-and-half-month-old baby boy in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat today, a week after he was allegedly stolen from his father’s house.
The body of Abdullah was found in the toilet tank of one Abdur Rahman Shikari’s house in Bisharighata area this noon, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting police.
Earlier on March 11, Abdullah was stolen along with his father’s mobile phone from their house in the same area. Then the kidnappers phoned Sohag Hawladar, the infant’s father and demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom, Riazul Islam, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Morrelganj.
A team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) detained the mastermind of the child kidnapping racket Hridoy Chaprashi of Nishanbariya area on March 16 from Sayedabad area of Dhaka after the victim’s family lodged a complaint with the police, the ASP said.
According to the information provided by Hridoy during primary interrogation, the body of the child was recovered today, ASP Riazul said, who was present when the body of the child was recovered.
A total of six people has been detained in this connection so far and effort to nab the other involved persons was underway, he also said.
All the detainees have been produced before a court Lalmonirhat for taking further legal action in this regard.
