7 including 6 women held for militant link in Rajshahi

Police arrested seven people including six women suspecting their involvement in militant activities in Rajshahi today.

The arrestees were “spreading propaganda” against the celebration of Pahela Baishakh on social media platform facebook and in real life, Md Shahidullah, superintendent of police in Rajshahi, told The Daily Star.

The lone male militant suspect was identified as Md Hasan, 62, of Bagmara upazila, who is a listed operative of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting the SP.

Police arrested four women from Godagari last night and following their information, the law enforcers arrested two women from Kashiadanga area in Rajshahi city and Hasan from Bagmara early yesterday.

“Our investigation and drives are yet to be completed. We will reveal everything later,” the police official said.
