Saudi cleric execution: Dhaka Shia Muslims protest
Shia Muslims in Dhaka today protested the execution of a prominent Shia cleric carried out by the Sunni Muslim majority Saudi Arabia on January 2.
People of the Shia community formed a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital, Dhaka this morning, reports our correspondent from the spot.
On January 2, Sunni Muslim majority Saudi Arabia executed Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr, who was behind anti-government protests. The execution drew angry condemnation from Shia-majority Iran and Iraq.
On that day, 46 other men including Shia activists and Sunnis accused of involvement in al-Qaeda killings, were also executed.
