‘Robber’ killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’
An alleged robber was killed in a “gunfight” with police near Kushtia Medical College Hospital in Kushtia Sadar early today.
On information that alleged robbers were taking preparation on Kushtia-Rajbari highway to commit crime, a team of Kushtia Model Police Station and Detective Branch (DB) of police raided the area around 3:30am, reports our local correspondent.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the “robbers” opened fire forcing the police to fire back, said Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of the local police station.
The “gunfight” continued for half an hour, the OC also said.
After the “gunfight”, bullet-hit body of an unidentified robber, 30, was found on the spot, he added.
The body was taken to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Police recovered a shutter gun, two bullets, and two machetes from the spot.
