RMG worker burnt in acid attack dies

A garment worker, who was injured in an acid attack allegedly by her husband in Savar, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital early today.
Mazeda Khatun, 23, a worker of Birds Group Garment Factory in Ashulia, succumbed at the burn unit of DMCH around 3:30am, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Dipok Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station.
Victim’s husband Sohag Miah allegedly threw acids on her when she was asleep at their Baipail residence in Ashulia on October 25, the OC said.
Mazeda was immediately rushed to the DMCH with 60 percent burn injuries, said Sabuj Miah, owner of the house where Mazeda and Sohag, resided.
A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, Sohag went into hiding soon after the attack.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
The body will be sent to Mazeda’s village home in Magura after autopsy, said police.
