Benazir Ahmed, director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), today asked parents to inform law enforcement agencies if any of their children goes missing.

He also called upon people to share any information of militant activities in blogs, twitter and other social media websites.

Benazir Ahmed made the call while talking to reporters after inspecting the latest preparations of National Eidgah for congregation of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

About the security measures at the Eidgah ground, the Rab DG said, precautionary measures have been taken after learning a lesson from the Gulshan café attack.

The security measures have been beefed up keeping all necessary aspects in close watch, he added.

“We want people to take part in the namaj without any fear,” he added.

Twenty hostages, mostly foreign nationals, were killed when a group of militants stormed in with guns and swords in the Gulshan’s Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1.

After a nearly 12-hour long siege, the hostage crisis ended with a death toll of 28. Apart from the casualties of two police officers, law enforcers said six militants were killed.

Bangladesh is observing a two-day national mourning over the incident.
