‘Probe further, ensure penalty for NRBC, Farmers banks grafts’
A parliamentary body today asked Bangladesh Bank to investigate further in order to ensure exemplary punishment to people who will be found involved in corruption and irregularities in operating NRB Commercial Bank and Farmers Bank.

The parliamentary standing committee on finance ministry also recommended that the two banks should be rescued from bankruptcy and measures for restoring stakeholders’ confidence, reads a Parliament Secretariat handout.

Following an alarming rise in loan disbursement by the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, the committee asked the newly formed governing body of the bank to inform it in the next meeting about the details on loans including its types of clients whom the loans are provided and the sectors.
Presided over by its Chairman Dr Abdur Razzak at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka, the committee came up with the recommendations at its 21th meeting.
