Youth killed in gunfight between 2 gangs: police
A youth was killed in a "gunfight" between two gangs of robbers in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni early today.
The youth, whose identity could not be known immediately, was an active member of an inter-district robbery gang, a correspondent from Feni reports, quoting Mahbubur Rahman, inspector (investigation) of Chhagalnaiya Police Station.
Police recovered a locally made one-barrel gun and two rounds of ammunition from the spot, the police official added.
Acting on information that there was an ongoing gunfight, a police team moved to Uttar Adharmanik village under Radhanagar union around 2:00am, said Mahbubur.
As soon as police reached the spot, miscreants fled the area, firing gunshots at them, he said.
Police found a youth, who sustained bullet wounds, at the spot and rushed him to Feni General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the inspector said.
The bullet hit youth was already dead when he was brought to the hospital, said Md Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, the hospital's resident medical officer.
A case was underway in this regard, said Md Mejbah Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chhagalnaiya police station.
The body was sent to morgue for autopsy, he added.
