Eight-month-old dies in gas cylinder explosion

An eight-month-old child was killed and two of her family members were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in their house in Brahmanbaria in the early hours of yesterday.

The explosion took place in the kitchen when Roma Akter, mother of the deceased Elma, went out of the room, said witnesses.

Her husband Robiul Mia and son Rabbi suffered burns in the explosion, they said.

Neighbours rushed them to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex, and were referred later to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Sikder.

Robiul is a boatman living in Bogdhor village in the upazila, said the OC.
