‘Stalkers’ beat up 2 students with hammer in Natore
Two college students were beaten up with hammer for protesting stalking of some local girls at a religious gathering in Naldanga upazila of Natore last night.
Of the injured, Sohag Hossain, 19, was undergoing treatment at Natore General Hospital while Ataur Rahman, 20, was released from the hospital after giving primary treatment.
The students hailed from Bilpara village in the upazila are students of Naldanga Business Management and Technical (BMT) College in the upazila.
One of the victims Sohag said he and his friend Ataur protested when some youth came to a religious gathering at Nawpara village were stalking the girls attending the programme.
The youths locked into an altercation with the college students and at one stage, beats them up with hammer, he said.
Md Uzzal Hossain, officer-in-charge (acting) of Naldanga Police Station said Sohag lodged a case with his police station accusing five people mentioning two names soon after the incident.
Police later arrested one Hasin Hossain, 22, of Surzubari village in the upazila, he added.
