Mother, son electrocuted in Chuadanga

2 other family members injured

A woman and her son were electrocuted and two others of the family were injured in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila today.

The deceased were identified as Ashura Khatun, 56, and her son Omar Ali, 28, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting police.

“Ashura got electrocuted after touching a detached electric wire on the yard of her house around 9:30am. As her son Omar tried to save her, he also got electrocuted,” said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jibannagar Police Station.

Besides, Ashura’s husband Chamir Ali, 60, and daughter-in-law Rubina Khatun, wife of Omar Ali, became injured while trying to save the victims.

Ashura and Omar died on the spot while Chamir and Rubina were rushed to the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex.

Chamir and Rubina are in critical condition, said Mahdmud Uddin, a physician of the health complex.
