Minister urges speedy trial of Rajon killing
State minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki today urged to try the killers of 13-year-old Rajon in a speedy trial tribunal.
The junior minister made the urge to law ministry after meeting the family of the child who was beaten to death in Sylhet, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Chumki also handed over a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to the bereaved family and requested police to take swift actions while dealing with such incidents.
She also assured all that her ministry will assist the law ministry in the trial process to ensure smooth passage of the trial.
Deputy commissioner of Sylhet Joynal Abedin who was also present when the minister met Rajon's family, promised Tk 2,000 every month for schooling of Rajon's younger brother.
Rajon was beaten to death, for what his assaulters said "theft crime", in Sylhet and the entire incident was filmed by a laughing aide. The video was later exposed to the social media.
