Madrassa teacher held for ‘sexually abusing’ minor

A madrassa teacher has been arrested for alleged sex abuse on an 11-year-old boy in Munshiganj's Gazaria upazila.

The arrestee is Haider Ali, 24, a teacher of Abdullahpur Hafizia Madrassa in Bhaber Char area, our local correspondent reports. Another sex offender of the same case is now on the run.

Father of the victim filed a case with Gazaria Police Station on Friday alleging sexual abuse on his son. Two teachers – Haider and another Maolana Saidul Islam – were accused in the case.

"We arrested Haider Ali yesterday (Saturday)," said Md Hedayetul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station. "We are trying to catch the other teacher."
