BGB, Myanmar police take measures to curb border crime
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Police Force (MPF) have initiated different measures preventing the flow of narcotic items including yaba on the bordering area between the two countries.
The decision came at a meeting between the BGB and BGP at Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar yesterday, a BGB press release said today.
The five-day-long conference began on April 6 to make the mission of both the two countries a success, said the press release signed by BGB Public Relations Officer Mohsin Reza.
The issues like combating terrorism, end firing on bordering area, illegal border crossing and other issues were discussed in the meeting, the press release said.
Issues of joint patrolling on the border-- by Bangladesh and Myanmar forces -- and regional-level flag meeting got priority in the meeting, it said.
BGB Director General Major General Md Shafeenul Islam led the 11-member Bangladeshi team while the 17-member Myanmar team was headed by Police Brigadier General Myo Than, chief of police general staff of Myanmar.
The 11-member Bangladesh delegation comprised of high officials of the Prime Minister's Office, home and foreign ministries attended the conference.
