Police have submitted a probe report into the torture of a Bangladesh Bank official allegedly by a sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station.

"The report will be submitted to the DMP commissioner today," Biplob Kumar Sarkar, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon division), told reporters.

He however did not disclose the findings of the report.

Hafiz Al Faruq, assistant commissioner (Mohammadpur zone) of DMP, submitted the report today probing the allegations against SI Masud Shikder.

On January 10, soon after the incident of torture went public, SI Masud was closed for allegedly torturing Golam Rabby for Tk 5 lakh. The officer also threatened to kill Rabby in "crossfire" and falsely implicate him in narcotics crimes.

Yesterday, DMP suspended SI Masud in this connection.
