Bangladesh Hajj stampede death toll now 63

The death toll of Bangladeshi pilgrims from the Mina stampede has risen to 63, Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh President Mohammad Ibrahim Bahar said today.
Ibrahim confirmed the death toll to The Daily Star quoting Hajj mission in Saudi Arabia but he could not tell about current figure of missing Bangladeshis in the September 24 Hajj stampede.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. On October 5, the officials of Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah said that at least 131 Bangladeshi hajis have been missing since the September 24 stampede.
"Around 29,000 among 1.6 lakh Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned till this morning," Ibrahim said.
According to Saudi officials, 769 people died in the crush in Mina. But many countries alleged that the number is more than 1,000.
