A fourth grader was reportedly raped by a young man in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur on Wednesday, the Eid day.

According to police and family sources, the girl was a student of KG School at Uttara of Dhaka. Her father is a rickshaw-puller.

The girl went to her grandfather's house in Shalmara village in the upazila to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with her relatives.

She was playing with other kids in Jankikhila Hafezia Madrasa field when Akram took her to a nearby house where he raped her.

Hearing victim's screams, locals rushed in and caught him red-handed.

Later, he was handed over to police.

The girl was first taken to Sreebardi Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sadar Hospital, said officer-in-charge of Sreebardi Police Station Ruhul Amin Talukder.
