Militancy came to Bangladesh from Afghanistan

Militancy came to Bangladesh from Afghanistan, where it originated during the decade of 1980, Monirul Islam, chief of counter terrorism unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said. 

He said, militancy rose in Afghanistan in 1979 when international vested quarters misinterpreted religion and used it to influence the people, turning them militant.

“The militancy is not only Bangladesh but also global problem. The whole world has been suffering the menace of the militancy,” Monirul said at a programme in Brahmanbaria.

He was addressing at a workshop as the chief guest held at Ustad Alauddin Khan municipality auditorium of Brahmanbaria town on this evening.

“We are now able to deal with the issue,” he said.

Brahmanbaria district police organized this workshop against militancy, terrorism and drug trafficking.
