JSD man’s death sparks violence in Kushtia
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) activists today torched seven houses in Kushtia after one of their fellows, who was injured in a clash with Awami League men, died at a Dhaka hospital.
Bablu, an activist of JSD Bheramara unit, suffered injuries in the clash at Chatgram village in Bheramara upazila on November 6. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital during the early hours today.
As the news spread, the agitating JSD activists set fire to the houses of the ruling party men in the morning, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station.
Police fired 12 rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control, the OC said.
The AL leaders and activists fled their houses in the face of the attack.
Tense situation has been prevailing in and around the area.
Additional police forces were deployed in the area to avert any further untoward incident, the OC added.
