Graft: Khaleda pleads for court transfer

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today filed a petition for transfer of the Zia Charitable graft case to any other court fearing that she will not get justice from the court.

After hearing, Judge Abu Ahmed Jomader of the Special Judge Court-3 asked the BNP chief to file a transfer miscellaneous case with the High Court as he has no jurisdiction in this matter.

The court also fixed May 18 for next hearing of the case.

Another Dhaka court shifted to April 27 for placing Khaleda’s self-defence statements in connection with the the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after her lawyer Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar submitted a petition seeking adjournment of the hearing.

Earlier today, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia appeared before the makeshift court at Bakshibazar in connection with Zia Charitable Trust and Zia orphanage graft cases.

The court had set today (April 13) for placing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's self-defence statements in connection with the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Senior Special Judge's Court had passed the order on April 6 after Khaleda's lawyer Jamiruddin Sircar moved a petition seeking an adjournment of the hearing.

On March 8, the High Court ordered to transfer the Zia orphanage case to the court from the Special Judge Court-3 after Khaleda filed a writ petition.

The court on March 30 warned that legal order would be passed if BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia fails to appear before it today for placing her self-defence statements in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
