Enlist 222 teachers into MPO: HC

The High Court today directed the government to immediately give monthly payment order (MPO) facilities to 222 teachers of different private colleges across the country.

The bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the directive following five separate writ petitions filed by the 222 teachers seeking necessary orders.

Petitioners’ lawyer Advocate Mohammad Siddique Ullah Miah told The Daily Star that the government will have to give the MPO facilities to his clients immediate after receiving the HC verdict.

Advocate Siddique Ullah said his clients have been discharging duties as teachers at different private colleges for long periods of time.

But, they are not being paid under MPO facilities although most of their colleagues are being given the facilities, which is discriminatory, he added.
