Dense fog disrupts Paturia-Daulatdia ferry service

Dense fog in the river Padma caused a nine-hour halt in ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route since last night.

The ferry service resumed around 7:00am today when the fog was cleared, Manager of BIWTC Aricha Sector Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury told our Manikganj correspondent.

Flights delayed, ferries stuck

Ferry movement was suspended around 10:00pm yesterday to avoid any untoward incident. Four ferries were stuck in the middle river while twelve ferries were stranded on both sides of the river Padma,  the BIWTC official added. 

Meanwhile, several ferries with passengers and vehicles remained stuck in the middle river, Paturia and Daulatdia ferry ghats for hours, the correspondent said.

A six-kilometre long queue of vehicles were seen at Daulatdia of Rajbari district while a five-kilometre long queue was seen at Paturia of Manikganj around 8:00am today.
