Dengue: 1,870 more hospitalised in 24hrs

The number of dengue patients is increasing across the country as 1,870 more new people were hospitalised with the deadly-mosquito borne disease in 24 hours till 8:00 am today.

Some 1,649 patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00 am yesterday.

The wife of an additional inspector general of police died of dengue fever at a hospital in Dhaka today. With this, the death toll from the dengue virus raised to 53, according to sources at different hospitals.

Meanwhile, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) put the figure of the death toll at 18 till yesterday.

According to fresh data from DGHS, a total of 24,804 people were admitted to different hospitals across the country including Dhaka between January 1 and Sunday while 17,388 of them were released from hospitals.   

A total of 7,398 patients are getting treatment at different hospitals across the country until today, according to health emergency operation centre and control room of the DGHS.
