Samrat admitted to Hospital
The expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, who was arrested for illegal casino business in Dhaka, was admitted to a hospital in the capital after he “fell sick” today.
Samrat, the expelled president of Jubo League Dhaka South, is now undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
Prof Dr Afzalur Rahman, director of NICVD, said Samrat’s condition is stable.
A seven-member medical board was formed for his treatment, he told reporters this afternoon.
“The board also suggested for carrying out some test,” Prof Afzalur said adding that he will remain under observation until 24 hours.
Earlier in the morning, the authorities of Keraniganj jail took Samrat to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after he complained of chest pain.
Later, he was shifted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
Samrat has gone through a heart valve replacement surgery around 15 years ago, according to doctors of NICVD.
Rapid Action Battalion arrested Samrat and one of his close aide Enamul Haque Arman, also expelled vice-president of Jubo League Dhaka South from Cumilla on October 6.
Samrat was sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on that day.
