A case has been filed against 40-50 unknown people in connection with the Monday’s gun attack in Baghaichhari of Rangamati that left seven people dead.

Sub-Inspector of Baghaichhari Police Station Akhter Hossain filed the case with the police station tonight, Manjur Alam Manju, officer-in-charge of the police station, told our Rangamati correspondent.

At least seven people, including two polling officials and four Ansar personnel, were shot dead and 14 people were injured in the deadly attack in Rangamati's Baghaichhari during the second phase of upazila election on Monday evening.

Two jeeps came under a hail of gunfire in Noymile area on the day while the security personnel, including two women, and the polling officials were returning to the upazila town with election results and polling materials. The attackers are unknown.

On Tuesday, Chattogram divisional commissioner has formed a seven-member probe committee, headed by the director of local government of Chattogram division, to investigate the incident.
