Besides, seven other students were suspended for two semesters for their involvement in cheating during the university’s admission test on November 9.
The suspension has been made effective from today, Registrar Prof Md Nuruddin Ahmed told The Daily Star Online this afternoon.
Registrar Nuruddin said the decision was taken at a meeting of the disciplinary committee as they were found guilty after investigation.
The students who were expelled are---Rafizul Islam, Nuruddin Nahid, Ariful Islam Shakib, Md Mazharul Islam Mishan and Rahat Al Ahsan. All of them are students of Management Department of the university.
According to campus sources, the expelled students introduced themselves as activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League though there is no BCL committee on the campus.
On September 21, some students came under attack by some students on their way to campus to attend a demonstration demanding resignation of the university’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Khondokar Nasiruddin.
Later, VC Prof Nasiruddin resigned from his post on September 30 amid students’ protest.
