A Bogra court yesterday ordered the duo be shifted to safe homes on security ground following their release from hospital.

Prime accused Tufan Sarkar in his three-phase remand did not admit to raping the girl, but his associates have already given confessional statements before a court admitting the incident.

Former convener of Bogra unit Sramik League, Tufan abducted and raped the girl on July 17. In an attempt to hush up the incident, he and his associates tortured the girl and her mother, and shaved their heads.

The victim's mother filed a case on July 28, following which police arrested 11 people including nine accused.
