Mannan Rahi, an accused of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder, today gave a confessional statement before a Sylhet court.
Judge Anwarul Karim of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 recorded the statement under Section 164 in the afternoon.
In his statement, Rahi confessed his involvement in the gruesome killing, said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Inspector Arman Ali.
"It is not possible to disclose further information at this moment for the sake of the investigation," Rahmat Ullah, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, told our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Earlier, the court put Mannan Rahi and his brother Mohaymen Roman, also an accused in the case, on a seven-day remand.
The suspects were arrested from Sylhet's Kanaighat upazila on Friday morning, months after Ananta was hacked to death in Subid Bazar area of the city on May 12.
Meanwhile, police arrested another suspect, named Abul Khair, in connection with Ananta murder today.
Abul was arrested from Sylhet, and Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate court placed him on a seven-day remand, Najibul Islam, Sylhet court inspector, told The Daily Star.
"The court granted the seven-day remand after we produced Abul before it with a 15-day remand prayer," he added.
