HC grants bail to 81 BNP men in N’ganj
The High Court today granted bail to 81 BNP leaders and activists of Sonargaon upazila, Narayanganj, in connection to three violence cases.
The court also ordered the accused BNP men and activists to surrender before the trial court concerned after 6 weeks in connection with the cases.
The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order after hearing five separate petitions filed by the BNP men seeking bail.
They also appeared before the court bench for bail along with their bail petitions.
Petition’s lawyer advocate Mahbubur Rahman khan told The Daily Star that Sonargaon police filed the three separate cases against themon February 3 over charges violence and preventing police from discharging duty during agitation ahead of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s graft verdict on February 8.
He said his clients were not present on the spot during the incident of violence but they were implicated in the cases for political motive.
