AL leader stabbed dead in Bandarban
Unidentified miscreants hacked a local Awami League leader to death in Baishari union of Naikkhangchhari upazila of Bandarban last night.
The deceased was identified as Mong Shwe Lung Marma, 55, a ward-level leader of the party, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
The incident took place last night around 9:45pm at Smshankhola area of the union when he was returning to his home.
Abul Khair, officer-in-charge of Bandarban Sadar Police Station, said Mong Hwelung Marma, a farmer by profession, was attacked by unknown assailants who hacked him with machete leaving him dead on the spot.
"Police are looking into the matter and the criminals will soon be brought to book", the OC added. Preparations for filing a case were going on till filing this report.

The body was taken to Bandarban General Hospital for autopsy.
The incident bore the hallmark of recent spate of killings reportedly carried out by so called 'militants'. On 14 June this year a Buddhist monk was slain in the upazila.
"A state of panic is prevailing in the locality following the recent grisly murders", said Mong Thai Ching Marma, a senior citizen of the area.
However, the elder son of the deceased, Usha Thoai Marma, said his father had no enmity with anyone.
