7 ‘wanted’ traffickers arrested in Teknaf

Seven “wanted” traffickers were arrested from Cox’s Bazar early today as police continue to crack down on the criminals behind human trafficking.

The arrestees were identified as Shahidul Islam, Zafor Alam, Nazir Ahmed, Zahir Ahmed, Bodi Alam, Farid Alam, and Zafor, reports our local correspondent.

They were all held in a drive in Teknaf upazila’s Shah Parir Dwip around 1:30am, said Ataur Rahman Khandakar, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

They were all booked under Human Trafficking Deterrence and Suppression Act, 2012. They will be produced at the court today, the OC said adding that such drives will continue until further notice.
