6-yr girl 'raped' in Panchagarh
A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Panchagarh Sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.
The minor girl, in critical condition, was undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting her mother.
The mother filed a case with Panchagarh Police Station in the night accusing Ashraful Islam, 23, of Hatrapara village, who is currently on the run.
Ashraful took the girl to nearby bamboo cluster alluring her with food and raped her, mother of the victim said.
Ashraful fled the scene leaving her bleeding profusely, the mother said.
As the minor girl managed to returned to her house on her own and narrated the incident, she was rushed to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital in the evening, her mother said.
The minor girl was advised to be shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment, Umme Humaira, medical officer of Panchagarh Sadar Hospital, said.
“Primarily, we got evidence of rape,” she said.
She was brought to RMCH on the night where she was undergoing treatment.
Law enforcers were conducting drive to arrest the rape accused, said Abu Akkas Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Panchagrh Police Station.
Asraful’s father Rafiqul Islam was detained for interrogation from the hospital, the OC added.
