5 die drinking ‘excessive liquor’ in Rajshahi

Five people including a woman died after allegedly drinking excessive homemade liquor in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi today.

The deceased Godhuni Rani, 70, Zahar Lal, and Anil, 55, of Charghat Sweeper Colony died at the upazila health complex in the afternoon while Mahtab Uddin, 50, of Gour Shaharpur and Helal Uddin, 55, of Mukhtarpur villages died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, reports our correspondent quoting Nibaran Chandra Barman, officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station.

Evidence of drinking excessive rectified spirit was found in the autopsy reports of the latter, the OC said quoting doctors of RMCH.

Autopsy of the rest of the three bodies will be performed tomorrow, he added.
