4 ‘robbers’ killed in ‘gunfights’
Four suspected robbers were killed in separate “gunfights” with law enforcers in Barguna and Chuadanga districts this morning.
Three were killed in the reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion in Barguna while one killed in “gun battle” with Chuadanga police.
Of the three alleged robbers, who were killed in “gunfight” with members of Rab-8 in Patharghata upazila of Barguna, one was identified as Shwapan Pyada, ringleader of a robber gang locally known as Munna Bahini, our Patuakhali correspondent reports quoting Commander for Rab-8 Hasan Al Rajib.
The identities of two others could not be known immediately.
Rab members recovered seven firearms, 38 bullets and several sharp weapons from Majherchar area in the upazila where the "gunfight" took place, said the Rab-8 commander.
In Chuadanga, Iman Ali, 28, an alleged member of inter district robber group, was killed in what police claimed a gunfight with at Chandpur village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila early today, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting Ahsan Habib, assistant superintendent of Chuadanga police.
Acting on information that a group of robbers was preparing to rob highway vehicles, a team of Chuadanga Sadar police led by Ahsan rushed to the spot at about 1:30am.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the “robbers” opened fire on them, according to the police official.
At one stage, the robbers fled the spot leaving the body of Iman.
He was a listed robber in the district and accused in three robbery cases filed with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, the official said.
Police recovered one LG shutter gun, four crude bombs and four machetes from the spot.
