3 held with gold, yaba at Kamalapur station
Police claimed to have detained three people with five kilograms of gold and contraband yaba tablets from Dhaka’s railway station today.
The gold was seized from two people – Rahul and Noton – from Chittagong who arrived Dhaka in Turna Nishita train around 8:30am.
About 1,500 yaba tablets were seized from one Yusuf, also from Chittagong, a short while later, Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Dhaka Railway Police Station told The Daily Star.
“Tipped off, cops searched Rahul and Noton and found 32 gold bars from them. The gold is worth around Tk 2.30 crore,” he said.
Two of the detainees said to have confessed their involvement in gold smuggling during primary quizzing, the police official said.
