Rapid Action Battalion members arrested an alleged robber along with 23 firearms and 1,531 bullets after a "gunfight" in the Sundarbans in Koyra upazila of Khulna last night.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid, Rab-6 media officer, confirmed it, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.

The arrestee was identified as Shahinur Sardar, a member of a robber gang locally known as Elias Bahini, Bangladesh daily Prothom Alo reports quoting a Rab-6 official.

While addressing a press conference in Khulna, the officials said a drive was conducted in the forest area of Koyra upazila. Later, they arrested injured Shahinur following a "gunfight" with the Elias Bahini, he said.

A firearm and four bullets were recovered from Shahin's possession. Based on his information, the elite force members found the rest of the arms and ammunition, the official added.
