2 girls killed in Mymensingh road crash

Two female madrasa students were killed and two injured in a road accident in Naudhar area on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Trishal upazila this morning.

The victims were identified as Nipa Akhtar, 14, a Class-X student, and Nadia Binte Hossain, a Class-IX student, at Trishal Abbasia Fazil Madrasa, police told our Mymensingh correspondent.

A Mymensingh-bound truck ran them over injuring the four girls.

The girls were walking to Trishal upazila headquarters to their coaching classes around 7:00am, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station.

They were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) where Nipa died around 10:00am while Nadia died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the police official said.

Two other injured female students were given first aid.

The bodies were sent to Mymensingh Medical College and Dhaka Medical College morgues for autopsies.

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
