2 siblings shot dead in Laxmipur

Unknown miscreants gunned down two brothers in Laxmipur Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased are Ibrahim Hossain Ratan, 38, and his brother Ismail Hossain Chowdhury, 35, sons of Sharif Uddin of Bashikpur village in the upazila, reports our Noakhali correspondent.

The two siblings came under the attack when they were sitting at a tea stall at Boidder Bari intersection around 11:00am, police said.

A gang of at least four masked persons riding a CNG-run auto-rickshaw appeared on the scene and shot from a very close range, the victims’ cousin Harunur Rashid told the correspondent.

Ratan was a criminal and chief of local “Ratan Bahini”.

Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station, said both the brothers were involved with criminal activities.
